Description of villa Morocco
Morocco is the name we have given to this villa situated at about 1500 metres from the sea, on the Ionic coast. The house is located between the seaside villages of Pescoluse and Torre Pali and it is at about 10 km from S. Maria di Leuca, 40 km from Gallipoli and 70 km from Lecce.
Morocco is a large Mediterranean villa, built on rock, with two wings jutting out to embrace a sunny court. Behind the house, pine trees rise against the deep blue sky, sheltering the house and the grounds in their cool shadow. Further back, the Mediterranean bush extends as far as the eye can see, the delicate scent of its aromatic plants pervading the air.
The house grounds (about 10.000 square metres /2.5 acres) gently slope down towards the sea and include an olive grove (which produces a particularly fragrant olive oil), palms and oleanders, citrus and fruit trees The irregular outline of a row of prickly pears marks the boundary of the property towards the sea. Magnificent seascapes can be enjoyed from the house and grounds. Thanks to the sea breeze, the area is between the Adriatic and the Ionian, the air is generally not oppressive even in the warmest months of July and August especially as the property is located high on the coast. If you walk straight down from Morocco to the Ionian Sea you will find a golden beach, backed by dunes flowering with lentisk and lilies. A few kilometres away, the coastline changes and the famous cliffs and caves begin.
Morocco consists of three separate apartments: “Buganvillee”, “Le Palme”, “Sidney”.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Salento, the province of Lecce, is in the extreme south of Puglia, “the heel of the boot” strip of land between the Ionian and the Adriatic Seas.
Salento is one of the most beautiful parts of Puglia. The extraordinary charm of this territory is due to the combination of the wealth of its artistic heritage and the beauty of nature. The turquoise sea is crystal clear (blue flag status), the coastline varies from rocky cliffs and caves to long golden sand beaches, the vegetation is luxuriant with palms, citrus trees, pine-woods, olive groves alternating with the subtle colours and aromatic scent of the Mediterranean bush. The beautiful town of Lecce, the “Florence of the South”, is less than an hour drive from the property, and so are Otranto, Gallipoli, Galatina and the countless small towns where you can find the splendours of the baroque art, the Norman castles, the frescoes and the mosaic floors in churches. All the landscape is rich in artistic details: Saracen watch-towers, dry-stone walls, the embattled towers of the fortified farmhouses…
Salento is also famous for its wonderful food and wine and for its festivals, which take place almost every week in summer and which range from classical and opera music to the heady song and dance “pizzica” (traditional dance), from the festival of the Arts to the various events celebrating typical food and drink. These very enjoyable events give you an insight into the wonderfully hospitable people from Salento.
Puglia enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with long days of sunshine. The warm weather begins in May and continues to the end of October. The hottest months are July and August but even then the air is generally not oppressive thanks to the cool sea breeze - Salento is known as “the land between two seas” . Spring and autumn are glorious, with sunny days, beautiful flowers and maturing fruit.
